Frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of dog daycare?

Besides giving you a safe environment to leave your dog in, it will also help with their socialization and allow them to stay active.

Can I bring my puppy for a playdate?

Yes! Puppies can join us following their second set of vaccines – which is typically at 12 – 16 weeks. We recommend starting with short visits and working your way up to a half day and finally, full days.

Does my dog need vaccines?

We do require that dogs be up to date on all vaccines and keep a vaccine certificate on file. A full set of vaccines includes DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies. At this time, the kennel cough vaccine is the only one required to be boostered yearly. Don’t forget to send us a copy of the certificate yearly!

Does my dog need to be fixed?

Dogs need to be spayed/neutered once they have reached maturity which is around 6-7 months of age. They can come and play as puppies and work on their socialization skills. Once males start showing hormonal changes we will have you keep your dog at home until after they are neutered.

Will my dog be in a kennel while at K9 to 5?

We are a kennel free establishment. Dogs are free to roam and have full access to inside and outside play areas all day every day!

What happens if there's an incident between my dog and another dog?

We do our best to create a safe play area for dogs, but we know that not every dog will get along perfectly. Our team is highly trained to understand dog body language and if we see that a dog is becoming upset, we will take steps to remove that dog before the situation escalates. Because our environment is like a child’s daycare, the occasional squabble may break out. That’s why we train our team to recognize these situations and remove a dog that may cause problems with other dogs in our care.

Why are meet and greets important?

A short introduction visit is important to ensure your dog has the best experience possible. It is an opportunity for your pet to meet the staff, see the place and get exposed to the new smells. It can be a lot for a new friend to take in! If all goes well once the dog’s owner leaves, we start introducing new friends to see how the dog will interact with other canines and determine their suitability for an open-play environment. Our knowledge of canine behaviour enables us to determine the next steps needed for the safety of each individual dog.

Do you do overnight boarding?

At this time we do not offer overnight boarding.
